Terry Michael Sanford, 79, passed away on March 27, 2026. Terry was a life-long resident of Akron, Ohio. He began his professional career in banking before pursuing his passion for books. His mystery & pulp fiction bookstore “Murder by the Book" provided a curated collection of specialty works for lovers of the genres. Upon retirement, he volunteered at Goodwill and gave great belly rubs to his pug, Nebbie, and many other willing dogs. He continued his love for reading and was known for sharing books with friends, family and neighbors. In 2021, he was honored to contribute a forward in the published collection of Pulp magazine articles by Victor Maxwell titled "Threads of Evidence".
Preceded in death by his wife and partner at the bookstore, Peg Sanford; parents, William and Margaret Sanford; and sister-in-law, Jan Sanford.
He is survived by his daughter, Jill (Jeff) Weaver; grandchildren, Caleb Weaver & Sierra (Pat) Jastrom; siblings, Pat Sanford, Janet (Garry) Miller & Cheryl Olis; along with several nieces & nephews.
There will not be any public services. Terry gave generously to many charities. To continue his legacy, the family suggests memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of choice in your community.
