Thomas Rocco Pirollo
Long-time Fairlawn resident Thomas Rocco Pirollo passed away on September 19, 2025, at the remarkable age of 102, surrounded by his devoted family.
Born in Spigno Saturnia, Italy, on November 3,1922, Tom came to America as a teenager with very little, first settling in Scranton and then Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he quickly learned that hard work could carry him a long way.
He eventually made his way to Akron, Ohio, following the love of his life, Rose, and her family. In 1943, he proudly served in the United States Army. He then spent next seventy years working as a self-employed landscaper. Tom also worked for 12 years as a baker at Crest Bakery, where he perfected his craft, making breads, pies and cookies that delighted family and friends.
In addition to baking and landscaping, Tom loved to cook, tend his garden, and above all, spend time with his family. He was happiest when his home was filled with loved ones — from weekly Sunday dinners to festive holiday gatherings. Christmas at Tom and Rose’s house was a time-honored tradition especially cherished by their children, grandchildren, and great¬grandchildren.
Tom was a proud member of the Sons of Italy, Lodge 685, and an honorary member of the Spigno Saturnia Club, where he shared lasting friendships and celebrated his heritage. A devoted parishioner of St. Hilary Church, he attended Mass regularly, remaining committed to his Catholic faith until his final days.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Rose Pirollo (nee Conte); parents, Pasqual Pirollo and Mary Grace Pirollo (nee Pampena); son, Patrick Pirollo; brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Lilia Pirollo, and brother-in- law, Anthony Conte.
Tom leaves to celebrate his life his devoted children Martin Pirollo (Judi), Marie Bevilacqua (Frank) and Jane Webb (Tom); daughter-in-law Shonda Pirollo; sister-in-law Nancy Conte; grandchildren Eric Pirollo (Tia), Frank Bevilacqua II (Kirsten), Nichole Bartlett (Matthew), Brian Pirollo (Jill), Bradley Webb (Erika), Jeffrey Bevilacqua (Renee) and Laura Arnold (Carl); great-grandchildren Isabella, Sophia, Jack, Abigail, Dominic, Seren, Chloe, Stella, Isaac, Madeline, Hazel, Luca, Leo, Crosby and Oliver; and many nieces and nephews.
