With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Timothy Scott Merryweather, who left us unexpectedly on July 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
Tim lived life to the fullest, spreading love, kindness, and happiness to everyone around him. Full of joy and enthusiasm, he had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and appreciated. His life was defined by integrity, generosity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Tim often said that his goal was to "leave the world a better place than he found it," and he lived by those words every day.
Born in California, Tim spent the majority of his life in Akron, Ohio. He and his wife, Denise, were looking forward to spending part of their retirement in California to be closer to their family. A proud graduate of Cornell University, Western Reserve Academy, and Old Trail School, Tim built Merryweather Real Estate alongside his late father, Thomas Merryweather. He was respected not only for his business success but for his integrity, compassion, and deep devotion to his employees, whom he considered an extension of his family.
Outside of work, Tim embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved riding bikes with his family, golfing with friends, cooking and entertaining, cheering on his beloved Cleveland sports teams, and giving back to his community. Tim and Denise cherished their years living in Naples, Florida, where they enjoyed spending time together at the beach and watching sunsets.
Above all, Tim's greatest love and deepest dedication were to his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with those he loved. He was a devoted husband to Denise, a loving and supportive father to Ryan and Amanda, and a proud and adoring grandfather to Ivy. His family was the center of his life and the source of his greatest joy.
Tim was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas and Marilyn Merryweather, whose values of integrity, kindness, and hard work shaped the man he became.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Merryweather; his son, Ryan Merryweather (Aline); his daughter, Amanda Robbins (Jeffrey); his cherished granddaughter, Ivy Merryweather; and his siblings, Melissa Merryweather, Elizabeth Stuyvesant (Nathan), and Greg Merryweather (Anna).
Tim's legacy is not measured by the business he built or the accomplishments he achieved, but by the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the example he set. To Tim, family extended far beyond blood relatives. Friends, colleagues, neighbors, and loved ones were all part of what he affectionately called "Team Merryweather."
If Tim could leave one final message to those he loved, it would simply be: "Rock on."
Private services for the family have taken place. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held 2-5 P.M. SUNDAY August 9th at Portage Country Club, 240 N. Portage Path Akron, OH 44303.
