Wenona "Betty" Betts Donofrio, age 99, passed away on May 21, 2026 with her family at her side.

Betty was born and raised alongside three sisters in Grantsville, West Virginia, the daughter of Dosia Lee Betts and Roche Cecil Hall. Betty went on to earn an associate's degree from Salem College.

During World War II, she worked for the Goodyear aircraft corporation inside the massive Akron Goodyear Airdock.

After World War II, Betty worked as secretary to the athletic Director at Akron University, where she met her husband, Bob. Their first meeting became a treasured family story: Bob came to purchase basketball tickets and proclaimed that he would buy two if Betty would go to the game with him.

Betty and Bob were married in 1949 and had two daughters, Linda and Peggy. Together they made their home in Silver Lake, Ohio, and later in Sarasota, Florida, building a life filled with family, friendship, and many cherished memories.

Betty will be remembered for her gracious spirit, kindness, and warmth. She was deeply loved by her family and by all who knew her.

The family is eternally thankful for the compassion and care by the team at Drumlin Reserve Memory Care in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.

A private service and burial will be held in Akron, Ohio.

Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711 or at Agrace.org/Donate
