William "Bill" Grenus passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 81 on September 1st.
Bill was born March 21, 1934 and married his wife Sara Kline of Akron on August 8th, 1964. The newlyweds moved to Japan for a year where he taught English at Chofu Air Base near Tokyo. He treasured those days.
He is survived by his wife Sara; two daughters, Karen (Lee) Sunderlin and Sheila (Chris) Rorrer; four grandchildren, Andrew and Joseph Sunderlin, Jacob and Emily Raber;
siblings, Robert, Mary and Joseph Grenus; and many other relatives and friends.
He enjoyed traveling with his family. When he was younger, he would join his brothers in Canada to go fishing. He loved traveling to New England in the summers with his wife and daughters. Later in his life he enjoyed traveling to the southwestern U.S. with his wife.
With degrees from the University of Akron, Bill was a lifelong teacher, spending 40 years teaching for the Akron Public Schools. He enjoyed gardening and cooking, and he was always trying to make that "perfect" apple pie or oatmeal cookie. He was a very strong, yet gentle and kind man. He lived life fully to the end. He was much loved and will be deeply missed.
A special thank you goes out to caregivers Lisa McAvinew, Marc Van Der Ark and Larry McCoy who helped him at home.
