William W. Wilcox, age 93, departed this life on Monday, June 30, 2025.
He lived most of his life in the Akron area. He retired from the Akron Police Department in January 1993 with 33 years of service in the Uniform Patrol Division.
William’s affiliations include the Fraternal Order of Police, Akron Lodge #7, Akron Area Police and Fire Retirees and Widows Chapter #25, District One.
Mr. Wilcox was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Wilcox; daughter, Kristine M. Wilcox; parents, Sterling S. Wilcox, and Ruth W. Lindus; sister, Marilyn J. and brother-in-law, George Zienka.
William is survived by beloved sons, William S. (Barbie) Wilcox, of Lake Milton, OH, Thomas R, (Rebecca) Wilcox, of Stow, OH, and Brent E. (Barbara) Collett, of Youngstown, OH; cherished grandchildren, Amanda and Rachel Wilcox, Thomas James Wilcox, Jessica and Andrew Schelske, Michael Buchanon, Brandi Freitas (Brian), and Deidre Armstrong (Bruce); treasured great grandchildren, McKenna, Kaelynn, and Jaxon Fowler, Chase Wilcox, Jordyn Kropp, Brayden Masters, and Blake Croft; dearest niece, Lynn (Larry) Nabors; and great nephews, Michael, Mathew, Joshua, and Jacob.
Funeral service will take place at 12:30 PM on THURSDAY, July 3, 2025, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the start of the service. Interment will take place immediately following at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312.
