Yvonne Gillette

Yvonne Gillette, 76, moved on from this world on February 15, 2026. She was a retired Professor Emeritus from the University of Akron, and a friend and mentor to many. For most of her career, she was a Professor in the School of Speech-Language Pathology, specializing in Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology for individuals with severe communication disabilities.

Yvonne finished her bachelor’s degree at the University of Toledo, and was a very proud graduate of The Ohio State University for her Masters and PhD degrees - GO BUCKS!!

Yvonne is survived by her spouse and best friend Dave Lathrop; her sister Denise Clegg (Bill); brother Charles Gillette (Michelle); sister-in-law Kathy Hilberg (Alan); and many nephews, nieces and their children.

We will be having a reception/celebration on Saturday March 7, 2026 from 2 pm to 4 pm at The Akrona Art Gallery, 1765 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44313.
