Arthur Thomas Greer

Arthur Thomas Greer, age 72, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021.

He was born July 17, 1948, in New York and grew up in Garden City, Long Island, NY. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1966. He attended the University of Akron and worked at Swensons, where he met many police officers that influenced his future career path. Arthur started working for the Akron Police Department in 1970 and stayed there until he retired at the rank of Lieutenant in 2000. After retirement, he worked for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) where he dedicated over 15 years. In his free time, Arthur enjoyed golfing. He helped run the annual NEC golf tournament at Firestone Country Club. He liked taking trips for golf outings or gambling opportunities, in Las Vegas or anywhere that he could find a casino! Arthur always loved happy hours with the boys.

 He was preceded in de ath by his parents, John Howard Greer and Dorothy Marie (nee Maxwell).

Devoted father of John J. Greer of Akron, and Alison (Marty) Butler of Brecksville; cherished grandfather of twins: Kate and Bridget Butler; beloved brother of John Howard Greer Jr. of Dunedin, FL; treasured friend of many.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Billow Funeral Homes, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, OH 44333 where funeral service will commence on Friday, May 7, at 1:00 PM.
