Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Porter Obituary

Barbara Ann (Bobbie) McMillen Porter, 92, passed away September 4, 2021. Born on Halloween in 1928, in Akron, and a graduate of Central High School, she raised four children with husband, Dr. Robert Shade McMillen, in the area.

Bobbie and Bob were active members of Congress Lake and Fairlawn Country Clubs before moving to Pinehurst, NC in the 1970s. In Pinehurst, she was an avid golfer, tennis player, and inaugural member of the Country Club of North Carolina. Bobbie returned to Akron in 2015, residing at Rockynol/Ohio Living. Preceding her in death are her parents, Virginia and Cecil Bryson; husband, Dr. Robert Shade McMillen; husband Gerald Porter; and son, Michael McMillen.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Gionti (Dominic), Robert McMillen (Pam), Melissa McMillen, daughter-in-love, Susan McMillen, and son-in-love, Paul Musser. Bobbie loved spending time with her grand “bunnies” Kelly Gionti (Andrew), Christian Gionti, Shade McMillen (Amanda), Ben McMillen (Tara), Alexandra Evanko (Jeff), Justin Brokaw (Felicia), Jessica Hulon (Ryan), Jennifer Holmes (Glen), Emma Davis (Chris), Gabriel Musser (Jaime), Anna Bean (Jay), and 20 great grandchildren. A family celebration of life will take place later. In lieu of flowers, raise a glass toasting Bobbie’s memory. Donations can also be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. (www.alz.org)
