Bernadette "Bernie" Takacs Obituary

Bernadette Ann Takacs, also known as Bernie, peacefully passed away on October 6, 2023, in Akron, Ohio, at the age of 75. She was born on August 11, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Eugene and Irene Timm. Bernie will be remembered as a selfless individual who always put others before herself.

Bernie dedicated her career to the Cleveland City school district, where she worked as an elementary school teacher. She had a passion for education and believed in nurturing young minds.

In her free time, Bernie enjoyed crocheting, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and visiting National state parks. She found solace in reading, playing games, and solving puzzles. Bernie's love for our planet was evident in her advocacy for recycling, conservation, and pollution awareness.

Bernie and her husband served with Missionaries of the Assumption, volunteering to teach the young girls of Zambia in the Chillabula Village for 3 years. While volunteering in Zambia they gave birth to 2 children Quenton and Sarah, when returning to the states they adopted their youngest children James and Rebecca.

Bernie's kind and giving nature extended to her relationships with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Quenton Takacs, Sarah Takacs, James Takacs, and Rebecca Glavin. She was a loving grandmother to Kyle Reed, Gabriella Takacs, Reghan Glavin, and Declan Glavin. Bernie is also survived by her siblings, Philip Timm, Monica Hunter, Bartholomew Timm, Marian Stryczny, and David Timm.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Irene Timm, as well as her sister Elizabeth Kuchinsky, brother Mathew Timm and nieces Megan Timm, Maureen Adams and Heather Fanning.

Bernie found solace and spiritual guidance at the Roman Catholic Church, where she worshipped. Her faith was an important aspect of her life.
