Jeannette Lee (Ely) Phillips

Born February 4th, 1955, Jeannette Lee (Ely) Phillips passed away April 9th, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Early in life, Jeannette aided her mother running a family business, a title insurance agency in Painesville, OH. Later, she taught English as a second language to adults and children. From 1996 to her early retirement in 2016, Jeannette worked for the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties. Here, she found a calling and played many roles. Jeannette worked in the crisis center shelter, answered the domestic violence hotline, served as volunteer coordinator, facilitated support groups, and provided case management to survivors living in the community. She will be remembered for her fierce dedication and compassion, as well as her camaraderie and mentorship. When not working Jeannette loved hiking in the Cuyahoga Valley and was an avid reader and public library patron. Jeannette is survived by her husband, Mark Phillips, son, Loren Phillips, brother, Charles Ely, sister Terri Carey, and other half siblings, as well as close friend Elizabeth McGlothlin and her family. Jeannette's memory will live on in their hearts, and in those of numerous extended family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

The Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 22nd, 2021 at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel. The service will be live streamed on the Billow's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/BillowFuneralHomes. The live stream will begin approximately five minutes prior to the start of the service.
