Mary Frances Evans

Mary Frances Evans passed away at 88 years old on September 27, 2022, after a lengthy illness, joining her parents, Dr. John T. Evans and Olive Krill Evans; and brothers, John, Tom, and Bill.  

She is survived by her daughters, Fran, Kathleen, and Susan Figetakis; Susan’s partner, Ernie Planck; sisters, Peg Hopf and Judy Funk; brother, Jim; sisters-in-law, Cathy and Laverne; brother-in-law Tom, and numerous nieces and nephews.  All family members were very important to her along with her numerous Krill, Semonin, Rambacher, Kemper, and Zurek cousins.  In her final years, one of Mary’s favorite pastimes was fondly reviewing family pictures. 

Mary was a great mom.  Her passions included gardening, sewing and cooking.  She was talented at all three.  She had an artistic eye, excellent observation skills, and a keen interest in the natural world, including plants,  birds, dogs, and horses.  

Mary’s sister, Peg, remembers Mary as being a great mentor.  She liked being in charge and she never tired of caring for her younger sisters and brother.  The “triumvirate” Bobbie Lou Oberlin, Peg, and Mary loved to swim at Firestone Club House followed by a big ice cream sundae.

Graveside Inurnment and Committal Prayers will be held 11 A.M. SATURDAY April 22, 2023, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E Waterloo Rd Akron OH 44319, with Deacon Robin Adair officiating.

Mary wanted this party, so please be prepared to play a fiercely competitive game of Hearts in her honor.  Mary was known for her beautiful blue eyes, and the happy glint anticipating another card game.
