Michael Richard Walker

Michael Richard Walker, age 85, died May 8, 2021 of natural causes. Born to Ruth Limbird Walker and Dent Walker in Anthony, Kansas in 1936, and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas, Mike received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and an EMBA from the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University. He lived in Northeast Ohio for the past 45 years, residing primarily in Chagrin Falls and for the last five years in Copley. Mike was preceded in death by his first wife Anne (Fitzgerald) and daughter Erin. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda (Banish); daughter Kerri; stepdaughter Jenna Bates (Andrew Miller); grandchildren Ryan, Jenny, and Sarah; great grandson Nicholas; sister Jane (Russell Webb) and nephew Timothy; as well as many close friends and extended family.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army active from 1958 to 1960, serving with the U.S. Army Air Defense School, as well as the U.S. Army Corps (Reserve) from 1957 to 1963. After discharge, he took a marketing position with Alcan Aluminum Corporation and retired as a vice president of marketing after 30 years of service. Shortly thereafter, he established his own business, The Metal Store, eventually selling it in 2001. He then spent several years as an adjunct professor for Tiffin University, teaching Marketing and Communications. Mike was a world traveler and avid reader who enjoyed photography, good food, spending time with family, and studying the weather.

A private service and interment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
