Michael David Westerfeld

On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Michael David Westerfeld, 74, passed on to his eternal home in heaven after a year and a half long and courageous battle against Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. Mike passed with wife Tracy and eldest son Jason by his side, at his home in Bath Ohio.

Mike was born in Lakewood OH to Irene Wilma (Hille) and Norman Christian Westerfeld on November 7, 1946. He was raised in Westlake Ohio, graduating from Westlake High School in 1964. Soon after, he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at Cleveland State University in 1969. He subsequently began his professional career, married and started a family.

Mike was actively employed by McDonalds Corporation (33 years) with a tentative retirement date set for June 30 when he passed. During his tenure with McDonalds, he received Awards and Recognitions too numerous to mention.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 25 years, Tracy (Vermilyea) Westerfeld, sons, Jason Westerfeld (Jackie) and Brandon (Jeri) Westerfeld, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Vermilyea, sister, Joanne (George) Sebold, nephew, Brent (Megan), niece, Renee (Stuart) Dudukovich, grandchildren, Olivia (Jesse) Wilder, Justin Westerfeld, Alyssa (Jamie) Clair, and Autumn Koza. Mike will also be fondly remembered and admired by countless extended family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Mike loved to spend time working in his yard, riding his John Deere Tractor (with all the fancy attachments!), driving his beloved 2018 GM Sierra pickup, spending time near Lake Erie, walking local trails, conversing with his sons, enjoying good food and watching old Westerns and Ohio sports on tv (Go Buckeyes!). He had a good sense of humor and was a loyal friend, mentor, and confidant. He will be missed by all that knew him, including several of the four legged variety.

Pursuant to Mike’s wishes, cremation was entrusted to Billow Funeral Home in Fairlawn Ohio.

A short burial service for the immediate family will be held at Elmhurst Cemetery, Avon Ohio on Saturday, June 19th. A small reception is planned following burial.

In lieu of flowers and donations, Mike’s family urges all men be screened for Prostate Cancer by getting a simple PSA blood test or by contacting their healthcare provider.
