Obituary

Robert M. Maddox 

Bob “Spider” Maddox, 87, of Akron, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2022. Bob was born in Akron, Ohio, on April 24, 1935, to the late Wendell and Mary Faye Maddox. He graduated from Buchtel High School as a member of the Class of 1953 and Akron University in 1957, served in the US Army, and was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. After graduation, Bob joined his father at Maddox’s Fabulous Furniture and continued as owner until he retired. Bob was an enthusiastic sports fan, loved his Pittsburgh Steelers, and rarely missed any sporting event when his grandchildren were participating. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn (nee Leedom) Maddox; son Rob (Jeanne) Maddox; grandchildren Lauren Maddox, Tyler (Melissa) Maddox, and Claire Maddox; great-grandchildren Olivia, Lillyana, Mara, Ryann, and Robert; sister-in-law Louanne Brunenmeister; nieces Ann Marie (Rich) Boyd, Lisa (Brian) Sullivan, and Lynn (Joe) Bamford and nephew Richard Stricklen. 

Per Bob’s request, cremation has occurred, and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Akron Civic Theatre or Summit County Humane Society.
