Sam Morlan Obituary

Sam J. Morlan, born November 29 1945, died peacefully on October 16 2018. He was preceded in death by father, Paul; sister Ellen Borkowski; and brother, Carl. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 30 years, Lora Avens; mother, Myrtle Powell of Pensacola, FL; brother, Philip (Marsha); and sister, Mary. Sam was a loving, outgoing individual that was loved and respected by everyone who met him. He has many loving nieces and nephews, Marie, Gina, Lisa, Jason, Heather, Elyse, and William who he courageously spent many weekends with creating mischief and memories.
Sam graduated from Borromeo Seminary high school in 1963 and continued his education at Kent State University. Sam spent 30+ years as a working member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 33. He was a member of the OSU Summit County Master Gardeners where he shared his time and knowledge with the Youth Gardening at the Salvation Army, the Regina Health Center, and at the Akron Zoo. He was a past president of the Gardeners of Greater Akron and the Midwest Region of Packard International.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. on FRIDAY October 19 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N Miller Rd. In lieu of flowers, Sam's family asks that memorial contributions be made to Summit County Master Gardeners (1100 Graham Circle, Stow, 44224) or the Summit County Metro Parks (975 Treaty Line Rd Akron 44333).
