Steven G. Spithas

Stephanos Konstantinos Spithogiannis, AKA  Steven G. Spithas (74), passed away on July 14, 2023 at his home in Akron, Ohio. 

Steve was born April 19, 1949 to loving parents Kosta and Anna (Pagonis) Spithogiannis, and grew up in a loving household, surrounded by a the Greek American community in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Shaw High School in 1967 and attended The University of Akron where he studied sociology. After graduating, Steve began his life-long business of tax preparation and CPA work, and guided and helped many members of his community as they built their own businesses and lives. He was a wizard with numbers, always gregarious and energetic, and had a zest for life that made everyone around him happy.

Steve is survived by his two children, Konstantinos Spithas and Evangelia Irini (Spithas) Fresty, son-in-law Paul A. Fresty, grandchildren Stephanos and Anna Fresty, Brother James Spithas, sister Patty (Spithas) Hamadeh, Brother-in-law Maher (Harry) Hamadeh, so many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and his long-time partner Carolyn Mamas. A family who loved, cherished and celebrated him, and will continue to do so.

The Spithas Family and extended family family will host calling hours (11:00am) and a funeral service (1:00pm) on Wednesday, July 19th 2023. Both will be held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S Union St, Akron, Ohio. Burial service will be at St. Theodosius Cemetery 8200 Biddulph Road Brooklyn, Ohio.

Steve loved flowers, but we kindly ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Chios Society #7 (1297 W. 85th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44102).
