William (Bill) E. Basye

William E. (Bill) Basye, 92, died January 20, 2021. Born on June 21, 1928 in Heber Springs, Arkansas, he lived in Akron since 1964. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elizabeth (Libby); son Dan (Ida) of Columbus; daughter Judy (Steve) of Gaffney, SC; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren with two more on the way. Mr. Basye was a graduate of Wheaton College (IL.), and the Ohio State University. He was a 1st Lt. in the US Army Medical Service Corps, serving in Korea and Japan. For 10 years he worked as a CPA for the accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst in Cleveland. He then worked in various positions in the trucking industry in Akron. For the last 17 years of his business career, he was part owner and chairman of Priority Freight Systems, Inc. For those of you reading this obituary who have not yet come to faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, it was Bill’s hope that you do so without delay. “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).  Friends will be received by the family from 12-1 PM on Saturday January 23, 2021 at Faith Bible Fellowship 126 W. Overdale Dr. Tallmadge, Ohio 44278. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday at the church with Pastor Les Sutherland officiating. Burial will take place at 2 PM on Monday January 25, 2021 at Union Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
